Alma G. Roth, 86, of Sumner, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Sumner. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday September 17th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Friday. Memorials may be made in her name to St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner.
Alma Gerhardine, daughter of George and Gebke (Kruse) Kampman, was born August 28, 1929, at Aplington, Iowa. She was confirmed April 2, 1944, at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. She received her education in Jefferson #7 Country School. She completed her education by receiving her GED on April 16, 1974. On August 2, 1958, she was united in marriage with Orville Roth at Allison, Iowa. Alma worked for many years as a cook at Sumner Community Schools and as a bookkeeper for Orville’s Mobile Milling in Sumner. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner where she participated in the quilting circle. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Sumner Star-dusters Square Dance Club, Cub Scout Den Mother, and FHA Chapter Parent. Her hobbies included baking, cooking, sewing, and playing cards. She especially loved the time spent with grandchildren and visits to Germany.
In addition to her husband, Orville of Sumner, she is survived by three children, Brian (Tina) Roth of Wilton, Iowa, Karen (Pete) Adler of Albany, New York, and Evelyn (Andrew) George of Newton, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Maxwell and Victoria Roth and Adam and Nicole George.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jacob, Heyo, Bert, and Harry Kampman; and three sisters, Trena Dreesman, Caroline Haag, and a sister in infancy.
